Agent Orange Petition
Dear Friends,
I am asking for the your support for the Vietnamese affected by the chemical Agent Orange. Three have begun a court case in New York against 35 chemical companies, who manufactured the chemical used by the American forces in their war on Vietnam.
I am very pleased to tell you that today, the number of people who have signed has reached 25,627.
The petition ends in December this year. It will go to the U.S. President, Congress, Senate and the chemical companies. I have asked a few organisations if they would place a link to the petition on their web-site. I am pleased that they have agreed, and this includes the BBC.
The address for the petition is http://www.petitiononline.com/AOVN/I hope you will agree to give this petition all the support you can.
Yours sincerely
Len Aldis. Secretary Britain-Vietnam Friendship Society
Oxford Research Group (ORG) is an independent non-governmental organisation established in 1982 which seeks to develop effective methods whereby people can bring about positive change on issues of national and international security by non-violent means.
ORG combines rigorous research into nuclear disarmament and
non-proliferation, UK security policy, and global security in the
changing international environment, with an understanding of the people who
make those decisions. Our areas of research include: preventing the further
spread of nuclear weapons; control of the arms trade; constructive approaches to
dealing with international terrorism and the 'war on terror'; and effective
non-violent approaches to conflict prevention and resolution.
The purpose of the Network is to promote British politics and international relations scholarship which supports non-violent action against oppression. The oppression may be domestic or international, and may take many forms, including physical violence or denial of economic, social, cultural or political rights. Those carrying out the oppression may be states, corporations or other non-state actors.
The IRAQ BODY COUNT Project A Human Security project to establish an independent and comprehensive public database of media-reported civilian deaths in Iraq resulting directly from military actions by the USA and its allies in 2003, continually updated. Casualty figures are derived from a comprehensive survey of online media reports.
Stop the War Coalition The aim of the Coalition is very simple: to stop the war currently declared by the United States and its allies against ‘terrorism’. We condemn the attacks on New York and we feel the greatest compassion for those who lost their life on 11th September. But any war will simply add to the numbers of innocent dead, cause untold suffering, political and economic instability on a global scale, increase racism and result in attacks on civil liberties. The aims of the campaign are best expressed in the name Stop the War Coalition.
International Boycott War Campaign This site promotes the boycott of companies and organistions that support arms manufacture, or profit from war. The International Boycott War strategy is an effective and non-violent peace-action.
Campaign Against the Arms Trade CAAT campaigns for the reduction and ultimate abolition of the international arms trade and the UK's role in it as a leading arms exporter. CAAT also encourages policies to re-orientate the UK economy away from military industry towards civil production.
Iraq Peace Team
Iraq Occupation Focus was formed in the spring of 2004 by a group of activists from across the anti-war movement who were spurred into action by the revelations of human rights abuses coming out of Iraq, the growing evidence of plunder by US corporations and the appaling death toll inflicted by the occupying military forces. We felt it was vital to step up the campaign to end the occupation completely by informing people in Britain about the realities of the occupation, helping to mobilise people against it.
Hazards of Uranium Weapons in Afghanistan and Iraq A summary of the known facts about suspected uranium weapons.
Mordachai Vanunu, the imprisoned arms inspector Campaign to free Vanunu and for a nuclear free Middle East In September 1986 Mordechai Vanunu disclosed to the world that Israel had secretly produced 100-200 nuclear warheads. Before the publication of this information in the Sunday Times, he was kidnapped by the Israeli secret service. At a trial held in camera in Israel he was convicted of treason and espionage, and sentenced to 18 years imprisonment, of this the first 11 1/2 years were spent in solitary confinement.
The Faslane Peace Camp Faslane Peace Camp has been in existence since 1982 to non-violently oppose the presence of nuclear weapons at Faslane Naval Base on the Clyde, 30 miles from Glasgow.
This site contains a number of very useful links on U.S. Nuclear Weapons Policies. WSLF recognizes that nuclear weapons affect the environment, the economy, the role of violence in society, and democracy itself. It seeks to abolish nuclear weapons, compel open public environmental review of nuclear technologies, and ensure appropriate management of nuclear waste. Grounded in nonviolence and rooted in both international and environmental law, the principle guiding WSLF's activities is democratization of decision making affecting nuclear weapons and related technologies.

Henrik Farkas manager, League Against Conscription - Hungary "I wish you a successful conference. "Conscription in Europe is against the interests of peace-loving people. It is a tradition characterising nationalism, and militarism. It violates a lot of human rights, it can be termed as today's slavery. The tendency is clear: in Europe the conscription is decaying. "After the first world war, many outstanding European intellectuals considered conscription as a wicked practice. Since then many historical examples support this evaluation. A fresh example was the bloody internal war in former Yugoslavia. Conscripted armies committed war crimes.
"Let me draw your attention to some international initiatives:"
Stop Conscription in Europe Now! International Protection for Deserters!
