The reason: 1987 - 2002 15 years INF-Treaty. From the limitation of arms to actual disarmament
In December 1987 the "INF-Treaty (Intermediate Range Nuclear Forces)" was concluded, that provided the elimination of all medium-rang missiles supported by land and sea including their shooting devices. For the first time in history a weapon system was actually disarmed completely. Disarmament talks had served till there merely to restrict the arming. The INF-Treaty thus is a model for how disarmament can work.
The idea: Meeting at a historical Place
Mutlangen is the place where the Pershing II rockets were stationed, against which the peace movement protested on a massive scale in the eighties. Mutlangen became a symbol for non-violent actions against nuclear weapons. At blockade actions three thousand people were arrested. Such a civil engagement is just as necessary today as at that time.
The INF-Treaty represents a breakthrough for the disarmament politics. With giving up old principles, it started the end of the cold war. It was a symbol of the policy of the "new intellect". Such political courage for the solution of the current conflicts today is just as necessary than at that time.
What we want: Developing Guidelines for the Future. Continuing Disarmament - Preventing arms in space
There still are thousands of nuclear weapons on the earth. They do not protect us against terror attacks and present themselves a great danger for the world peace. Only the scrapping of the nuclear weapons and the withdrawal from the atomic energy help to reduce the danger potential of an atom terrorism. The explanations of readiness of George Bush and Vladimir Putin to disarm their strategic nuclear weapons drastically, is a step in the right direction.
But there is the necessity to disarm these danger potentials completely, regulating this by contract and also making this checkable and irreversible. Also an operating missile defence system doesn't offer protection against terrorist attacks. The rocket plans bring about a new arms race on the earth and in the space. A trend-setting policy of peace must disarm rockets instead of fending them off.
A world with civilian strategies of conflict solution, free of weapons for mass destructions is the visionary, but attainable aim. We want to make a great event from the anniversary of the INF-Treaty, at which many prominent politicians, culture creators, scientists and members of the peace movement are to take part. The look shall be directed forwards: The INF-Treaty shall be appreciated as a model for future disarmament steps. It is aim to develop guidelines and steps for a policy of peace of the 21st century, the peace manifesto of Mutlangen 2002.

The reason: Declining Energy Resources
Already at times of the stationing of the Pershings we in Mutlangen didn't want only to protest against the fatal threat but also intended to put a positive sign. We want to do this today, too: the scarcer the energy resources oil, gas and uranium become, the bigger the danger of armed conflicts will result. We should reduce the dependence of our society of imported and finite resources in order to reduce conflict potentials. The use of renewable energy resources, of sun and wind thus contributes to the maintenance of peace and protects our grounding climate simultaneously.
The idea: Creating Peace with Sun and Wind
We will create a fund. With donations and earnings from benefit events, solar plants and wind motorcycles are financed. The returns on the energy production are invested in the peace work.
We need E100,000 every year for the financing of a peace job in Mutlangen and the dispatch of a three-headed peace team. If we invest at least a million E into regenerative energy generation, this engagement is protected durably. We collect donations which increase and are worthwhile three times: they create clean energy; they create ecological jobs, they promote civilian constructive conflict holding and this durably.

The reason: 20 years social blockade and still nuclear weapons in Germany
In summer 2003, 20 years have passed since the social blockade in Mutlangen. Many people obliged themselves to participate in actions at that time furthermore, too.
The aim of the atomic disarmament is as necessary as at that time today. In Büchel U.S. nuclear weapons are stored, the Federal Armed Forces practices the nuclear participation with soldiers and tornado airplanes.
The idea: Big Social Blockade in Büchel
We invite all participants of the social blockade to become active again by supporting the formation of the Mutlanger Peace Manifesto 2002 and to take place. They shall participate in it by advertising the action "with new energy for the peace" and by participating in a social blockade (with the old and new prominent) in Büchel in summer 2003.
